second meeting

i went to see pn ju to ask her about my problem. i told her about the book that i want to do for this research paper, about how the book is written in Malay and how i still want to 'do' this book.
out of my expectation, she approved my choice of book.
but, she assigned me with several task that are related with research paper.
i didn't quite remember waht the task are, but it has something to di with metaphor, imagery and society study.

the book

Today I have decided to do my research paper on a ghost book from a Malaysian writer, Tamar Jalis. Tamar Jalis is a writer of “Siri Bercakap Dengan Jin”. Basically, it is a story about his experience with his grandfather through out his youth life.

The thing that I like about this ghost story is; it is related to our real life experience. The ghost, the people, the society, the way the writer pictures the scenario…everything makes sense to me.

the problem!!

after cracking my head, thinking what book should i choose for this assignment, i have finally made up my mind to do my research on "Siri Bercakap Dengan Jin" by Tamar Jalis.
but, the problems is, this book is written in MALAY!!!!

my first meeting

Today I went to meet Pn. Ju, regarding the research paper. If I am not mistaken, it has been a week since Dr. Edwin announced the supervisor or each person.

On my way to her room, I was thinking to my self, what should I say to her about this research paper, since I ‘ve never done any homework or research. I even did not decide what story or which writer I want to use I this assignment.

But, things are all cleared up after I met her.

Mahabrata

Today Dr.Edwin gave us a ew task which require us to read the Mahabrata text.By looking at the relationship between Shantanu and Devavrata, the father seemed very proud of the son, whom has great potential of continuing his legacy. Even the relationship between the father and the son was very tender, for Bishma was the only son he had, that continues the presence of Ganga in his life. In addition, Bishma was blessed with all the traits that represent a perfect human, intelligent and bold. Shantanu was entrusted by Ganga his son to be taken care. To a certain extent, Shantanu did love his son and carried his responsibility like Ganga has expected. This is a short extract that I manage to find in the text.

There was stunned silence. No man could have taken a more terrible oath. To be sonless was a fate worse than death.

Thunder rumbled in the hot blue sky and voices in the air cried out “Bishma! Bishma!” as flowers rained on the young prince’s head. The gods came out of their heavens to look down wonder-struck at the young man who had taken the most awful of all oaths to buy his father’s happiness.

For Shantanu to have the desire to marry again was expected. As I have mentioned of Bishma with the traits of perfect human, he must also a perfect son, who never defies and loves his father so much. He must had been very loyal and grateful to his father that he willingly to follow the cruel conditions. Without further thinking, he took that decision that was not beneficial at all. This is where a value takes place, to think twice, deep and further before making a decision. Bishma made his decision with no haste, to think only for his father’s happiness.

There are several moral value that I find interesting to share in this journal, however, due to short memories problems today, I could not manage to type it down. Maybe I will type it some other day.

the Supervisor!!

Today Dr. Edwin announced the supervisor for each group on the research paper project.

I was assigned with Pn. Juridah Md. Rashid. mmmmm…I think its okay to be assigned with any lecturer. To me, as long as I do the work, then there should be no problem.

But, the not so good part about this is, I was separated from my usual clan. Therefore, I will learn new experience; doing assignment with the person that I am not really close with.

But..i don’t care.

the first!!

This is my first entry in this journal. I don’t know what to write since I am a bit blur about the course out line.

My first day in the first class was a bit interesting since they told me that there are no final exams on this course. Hmmmm..however, I’m still not sure what is waiting for me in this course a few month a head since there are this new assignment called the ‘research paper’.
