There was stunned silence. No man could have taken a more terrible oath. To be sonless was a fate worse than death.
Thunder rumbled in the hot blue sky and voices in the air cried out “Bishma! Bishma!” as flowers rained on the young prince’s head. The gods came out of their heavens to look down wonder-struck at the young man who had taken the most awful of all oaths to buy his father’s happiness.

For Shantanu to have the desire to marry again was expected. As I have mentioned of Bishma with the traits of perfect human, he must also a perfect son, who never defies and loves his father so much. He must had been very loyal and grateful to his father that he willingly to follow the cruel conditions. Without further thinking, he took that decision that was not beneficial at all. This is where a value takes place, to think twice, deep and further before making a decision. Bishma made his decision with no haste, to think only for his father’s happiness.
There are several moral value that I find interesting to share in this journal, however, due to short memories problems today, I could not manage to type it down. Maybe I will type it some other day.
